Industrial Electrician: Apprentice to Senior Level

Salary: $22.00 - $42.00/hour

Position Summary

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electronic systems within pumping plants, power plants, and related project facilities. This position supports routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance activities and assists with the operation, programming, and maintenance of control system controllers and SCADA systems. The Electrician operate power or pumping units during emergencies or supervisory control system outages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, test, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic equipment including generators, motors, transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, programmable controllers, metering devices, and communication systems
  • Operate high-voltage switches and related equipment in accordance with safe clearance procedures
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Troubleshoot and maintain communication, control processing, and supervisory control (SCADA) systems
  • Maintain maintenance records and collect daily plant performance data
  • Operate power and pumping units in accordance with BOR and industry standards during emergencies
  • Program and maintain control system software and assist with SCADA system operations
  • Inspect electrical systems and equipment during facility construction or upgrades
  • Prepare and administer power plant O&M reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years of journeyman-level experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, pumping, or power generation facility working with high- and low-voltage electrical equipment; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience working with motors (2,400V / 500 HP or greater) and associated control systems
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory, plant operations, and industrial safety procedures including lock-out/tag-out
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer data sheets
  • Proficiency with electrical and electronic testing equipment
  • Valid (or ability to obtain) Colorado driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Availability for overtime and on-call assignments, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Working Conditions

Work is performed in industrial environments and may involve exposure to high voltage, airborne particulates, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures. The position requires moderate physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, and working with personal protective equipment including respirators.
